AWARDS
- Within the AXA-RF project "GREENLIFE", which I recently coordinated, the documentary film "Semersuaq - SEMERSUAQ - The Great Ice", produced with the filmmaker Patrizia Bruno, was awarded the (i) Trophée d’Or (category “Habitats, territoires et cadre de vie”) in the 13th Deauville Green Awards (June’24, Deauville, France) and the (ii) best documentary (category “Glimpse from the world”) in the 6th Andaras ad Astram Festival (July’24, Sardegna, Italy). The film compares the views of a scientist (me) and a local Inuit on the future of Greenland.
- Award for the best PhD thesis on Geomorphology (1st Prémio António de Brum Ferreira) and in Geography (xxx) for my PhD student Marcelo Fernandes, from the Centro de Estudos Geográficos - Universidade de Lisboa.
- Best research article of young researchers 2022 of the Centro de Estudos Geográficos - Universidade de Lisboa for the paper entitled “Paraglacial slope failures in the Aran valley (Central Pyrenees)” published in 2020 by Fernandes, M.; Oliva, M. & Vieira, G. in the journal Quaternary International, 566-567: 24-38.
- Prémio Científico Universidade de Lisboa 2017. Highest scientific production in the field of Geography. Universidade de Lisboa, Caixa Geral de Depósitos. 6,500 €.
- Best short course within the EGU Soil Science Division General Assembly 2014 “Workshop on methods and techniques to study permafrost in a climate change scenario”, April 2015.
